UMS Faculty of Pharmacy Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Two Prominent Bangladeshi Universities to Strengthen International Network

Fakultas Farmasi UMS menandatangani Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) dengan School of Pharmacy University of Asia Pacific dan Faculty of Pharmacy University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, sebagai upaya memperkuat kolaborasi akademik di tingkat internasional.

Surakarta, June 22, 2026 – The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) continues to strengthen its international partnerships through the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the School of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific (UAP), Bangladesh, and the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Held at the Faculty of Pharmacy UMS, the signing ceremony marks a strategic milestone in expanding global academic collaboration and advancing the implementation of the university’s three core missions of higher education—education, research, and community engagement.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Dr. apt. Arifah Sri Wahyuni, M.Sc., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Research of the Faculty of Pharmacy UMS, and apt. Peni Indrayudha, Ph.D., Vice Dean for Student Affairs and International Cooperation. Their presence reflected the Faculty’s strong commitment to establishing sustainable international partnerships.

The delegation from Bangladesh comprised Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, Professor and Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Asia Pacific; Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shahriar, Dean of the School of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific; and Prof. Dr. Md. Selim Reza, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Dhaka.

In a warm and collaborative atmosphere, representatives from both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening academic ties. The signing of the MoUs is expected to serve as a foundation for mutually beneficial collaborations, particularly in education, research, and community engagement.

Through this partnership, the Faculty of Pharmacy UMS aims to expand a wide range of international initiatives, including student and faculty exchange programs, collaborative research projects, joint scientific publications, international seminars and conferences, as well as community engagement programs that create meaningful impacts for society in both countries.

During the event, apt. Peni Indrayudha, Ph.D., Vice Dean for Student Affairs and International Cooperation, emphasized that the partnership represents one of the Faculty’s strategic efforts to enhance educational quality while providing broader international exposure for both students and academic staff. He expressed hope that the collaboration would create greater opportunities for learning, academic exchange, and research collaboration with international partners.

Meanwhile, the Bangladeshi delegates expressed their appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the Faculty of Pharmacy UMS. They also conveyed their optimism that the partnership would lead to impactful collaborative programs contributing to the advancement of pharmaceutical sciences and healthcare at both regional and global levels.

The event concluded with a tour of the Faculty of Pharmacy UMS laboratories. During the visit, the delegates explored the Faculty’s educational and research facilities, gaining firsthand insight into the infrastructure that supports teaching, learning, and scientific research. The laboratory tour also provided an opportunity to discuss future collaborations in research and laboratory development.

Through the signing of these MoUs, the Faculty of Pharmacy UMS further reinforces its commitment to becoming a leading pharmacy education institution with global competitiveness while continuously expanding international collaborations to enhance the quality of education, research, and community engagement.
