Surakarta, July 13, 2026 – The Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS), successfully organized the Industrial Skill Event as part of the National Assembly (Munas) of the Indonesian Pharmacy Student Senate Association (ISMAFARSI). Held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the Faculty of Pharmacy UMS, the event served as a prestigious national competition for pharmacy students from universities across Indonesia to demonstrate their competencies and innovations in the pharmaceutical industry.
The Industrial Skill Event was designed as a platform to enhance students’ abilities in addressing the increasingly dynamic challenges of the pharmaceutical industry. Throughout the competition, participants were challenged to analyze industrial case studies, develop innovative solutions, and present practical ideas that address current industry needs.
Following a nationwide selection process involving participants from universities throughout Indonesia, the top five teams advanced to the final round. The finalists represented Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Universitas Diponegoro (Undip), and Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang (UNSIKA).
The final round featured highly competitive presentations in which each team presented its proposed solutions. The competition was evaluated by two distinguished judges with extensive experience in both academia and the pharmaceutical industry: apt. I Ketut Sudarsana from PT Konimex and apt. Suprapto from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta.
Based on comprehensive assessments covering innovation, analytical accuracy, implementation feasibility, and presentation skills, the panel of judges announced the winners as follows:
- First Place: Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM)
- Second Place: Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB)
- Third Place: Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS)
The successful implementation of the Industrial Skill Event reflects the commitment of the BEM of the Faculty of Pharmacy UMS to organizing high-quality academic activities that contribute to the development of students’ professional competencies. Beyond being a competition, the event also served as a valuable platform for strengthening networks among pharmacy students from universities across Indonesia while fostering collaboration between academia and the pharmaceutical industry.
Through this event, pharmacy students are expected to become better prepared for professional careers in the pharmaceutical industry by strengthening their critical thinking, problem-solving, scientific communication, and innovation skills. The synergy between higher education institutions, student organizations, and industry partners represents a strategic step toward producing pharmacy graduates who are competent, adaptable, and competitive at both the national and global levels.
